Esch Landscaping, LLC is a residential and commercial landscape design/build firm located near the beautiful shores of Lake Huron on Saginaw Bay. Many of our clients have second homes along the coast of Lake Huron. We primarily service the thumb area of Michigan. Position Overview 

The position is a seasonal (April - November) full time position. The Plant Care Specialist works within our Landscape Maintenance Division, with a focus on providing our clients with excellent care and maintenance of their softscapes. The specialist would provide professional advice to both our clients and Project Managers on the selection, planning, and maintenance of trees, shrubs, ground covers, and turf, in addition to preparing and managing various orders for various types of plants and seeds. He or she would plan and design perennial flower beds for all of our customers, and would assist in the preparation of maintenance programs, including fertilizer programs, for the control of plant diseases and insects. The Plant Care Specialist would work closely with key Managers throughout the company, and he or she would perform additional duties as requested.

Work Conditions

  • Ability to work with hand tools, small engine equipment, and materials

  • Work near heavy equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent

  • Minimum 3 years of documented experience in horticulture/landscaping

  • Knowledgeable in landscapes, hardscapes, drainage, irrigation, lighting, and plant care

  • Competent in the use of power tools (chainsaws, pruners, sod cutters, sprayers, rototillers, lawn mowers, line trimmers, etc.)

  • Capable of operating required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner

  • Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license (and willingness to attain a chauffeur’s license)

  • Knowledge of specific materials, methods, tools and equipment required to complete various softscape practices

  • Physically fit with strong stamina

  • Ability to follow safe working procedures

  • Ability to work both independently with little supervision, and as part of a team

  • Carry and use a smart phone or data-enabled device for communication and reporting

Wage Range:

Based on education, certifications, and experience.
