Full Time Mechanic

Position Overview:

Mechanic is an experienced employee with a complete understanding and strong knowledge of heavy equipment (skid steers, excavators, loaders, pavers, etc.), diesel engines and small equipment. The applicant must be able to maintain records of repairs, while operating within a monthly and annual budget. This is the perfect opportunity for someone who wants the freedom of a flexible schedule, while running their own repair shop. The position is paid hourly based on ability. This position oversees all aspects relating to the proper functioning of our vehicles and equipment. This position is full time year-round.

Key Duties:

  • Responsible for daily scheduling of vehicle and equipment preventative maintenance and emergency repairs.

  • Responsible for managing repairs within a monthly and annual budget.

  • Monitors the safety of vehicles and equipment.

  • Communicates daily with the Operations Manager, to discuss scheduling and status of repairs and maintenance.

  • Responsible for monitoring and recommending vehicle and equipment replacement dates and needs.

  • Manages and adjusts their work schedule to ensure the required maintenance on off-site vehicles and equipment are properly maintained.

  • Maintains company policy, the safety of crew members and safety of the public who may interact with the job.

Work Conditions:

  • Ability to work with hand tools, small and large engine equipment, and materials

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. repeatedly through an entire work shift

  • Requires good manual dexterity

  • Excellent stamina is required

  • Work near heavy equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be able to read and write

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • Must possess a valid chauffeurs license

  • Competent in the use of power tools

  • Minimum of one year’s experience in a related field

  • Working knowledge of mechanics troubleshooting

  • Strong oral communication skills, job planning skills, and mechanical aptitude

  • Ability to operate a truck and trailer combination proficiently

Wage Range:

To be determined based on ability. Paid on an hourly basis.
