Esch Landscaping follows a 6-Step Process for the ultimate Fertilizing and Weed Control Program for your lawn:

  • Step 1:  Early spring fertilizer with a pre-emergent crabgrass preventer promotes early green-up and recovery from winter damage, as well as preventing weed seed germination.

  • Step 2:  Post-emergent herbicide is used to kill established and growing broadleaf weeds. This application is applied mid-spring when broadleaf weeds are vigorously growing.

  • Step 3:  Fertilizer application with grub prevention will provide optimal lawn nutrition with grub control.

  • Step 4:  The summer fertilizer treatment will provide optimal nutrition and color with adequate moisture during the hot summer months.

  • Step 5:  Early fall post-emergent herbicide is applied to control summer annual weeds and other deep-rooted broadleaf weeds.

  • Step 6:  Fall fertilizer application will stimulate early spring green-up, while improving the root system of the turf.

Not all fertilizers and herbicides are created equal

It is important to consider that not all fertilizers and herbicides are created equal. Esch Landscaping can help you decide what is best for your lawn and the timing and frequency of application needed to help you keep your lawn looking top-notch. We will also assess your lawn for any signs or symptoms of nutrient deficiencies or problems.

Information to Consider

Fertilizer applications typically take place during the spring and once again in the fall.

Weed killers like pre-emergent herbicides kill the weeds before they emerge from the ground and is typically applied early in the season.
