Creating memorable experiences for our clients is what Esch Landscaping strives for, and this project provided us a unique scope of work. We were asked to take a dark, unusable space and create something special to extend their living space while avoiding the bugs!

A once dreary environment of gravel used for storage sprang to life with a cozy gas fireplace, outdoor bar with tv, wood burning firepit with seat walls and raised planter boxes, and a viewing perch to watch the sunsets over their backyard water feature - Lake Huron! Our challenge was to fit as many usable spaces into a small area as the client did not want to sacrifice lawn space. Our design team created separate “rooms” that allowed for intimateconversation, while still being connected to the overall space and all those enjoying it. Motorized screens were incorporated that with the flip of a switch, could be lowered to keep bugs out of the bar area, all while still allowing our client to view their backyard. A combination of Unilock paving stones and wall stone, granite countertop and concrete veneer stone was used to set each space apart, while working together in an earth tone color scheme that created harmony between spaces. The differing textures engaged one another demanding an appreciation of the craftmanship. What was originally a vision conveyed with photo-realistic 3D renderings, is now an outdoor experience of which we are proud to be a part, and our client will relish for many years.
